Day 1. Kverkfjöll Mountains, Glacier – Hot spring & Ice cave.
We depart from the Mountain lodge Möðrudalur early morning and head into the highlands
On this day our goal is to get to Kverfkjöll mountain hut, Sigurðarskáli and set-up for the tour. On this adventure, it is all about the journey, the drive can take from 3-8hours, all depending on snow conditions. That is a part of the adventue waiting, is to embraze the unknown and travel togather trough the wilderness as a team. Once at the hut, we shortly stop, dig ourself trough the snow, into the hut and get the heeter going. Afternoon we will venture towards the Glacier and Volga river, ( Volga is a warm, geothermal river, running from under the glacier, ) on good day’s we can enjoy a relaxing bath in the river in the dramatic setting of the Ice-cave entrance.
Day 2. Askja Caldera – Víti Crater – Holuhraun lava fields – Vatnajökull Glacier
Waking up in one of the most remote place in Iceland.
Today the aim is set to visit the famous Askja Volcano, getting there is done differently every tour, depending on snow and ice conditions.
are we crossing the glacier river ?
are we using the Glacier as a shortcut?
are we traversing across the lava fields?
We don’t know but we will find out.
The whole day is spent exploring the incredible volcanic nature of Askja / Holuhraun region, returning in the afternoon, back to our home in the wilderness in Sigurðarskáli
Day 3. Hveragil Canyon & Geothermal Hot spring Bath – Outlaw’s highland shelters
Our Last day, and travel back to the “real world”
On the day we aim to visit the incredible Hvergagil Canyon,
Here a 40C river runns in a deep canyon, this little known location, is one out of this earth, a location that is almost never visited due to how remote it is, but we have an oportunity to do so as we travel back from Kverkfjöll
